Fine - sun rose 4:26, cloudless
all day, light N [north] to N.E. [northeast] wind.
Temp. [Temperature] at 7:30 AM 52 [degree symbol], temp [temperature] at
noon 70 [degree symbol]. Barometer 30.2,
steady no precipitation for
about 7 days.
Woods very dry + noisy.
Behaviour. Saw doe + yearling near
Durrants [Durrance] Lake, at 5 AM. feeding
on hillside. not alarmed
by car.
5 deer on open 1938 burn
just above intake at 6:45 AM.
Deer had been feeding in open
+ were running toward
corner when seen.
1 deer alone feeding along
swampy creek crossing road
1 deer (doe) feeding in swamp
at intersection of 73 + 74.
3 deer - I think 2 does + 1 yearling
came down from hill on 66,
diagonally through 74 + bedded in
bottom at 7:30.
6 deer on 83-84-92 hill
all broke from swamp at
100 yards + ran off over hill
I followed slowly + 20 minutes
later found them all bedded.
