later the nest was empty. On other occasions the nest has been
empty the day after banding, and it seems almost certain that
the hen sometimes if alarmed leads the young away from the nest
before they can fly. This could account for the empty nest when
the ypung [young] of some of this years nests might seem to be too young
to have left. (I did no banding this year however)
