- Yellowheaded Blackbird (YHBL)
Westwick Lake May 4/55. [1955]
Males abundant + on territory but
no females seen yet.
Westwick Lake May 21/55 [1955]
Females arrived in flocks today.
The [male symbol] call seems to have changed
since the [female symbol] [female symbol] started arriving. The loud,
long squawk, and the "chip chip-
squawk squawk" are still heard,
but a new call has been added,
and is now more frequent than
the other two. It has fam [familiar] "chips"
in a different rhythm, before the
two squawks. There is also a
soft clean whistle just before
the horrible long squawk, but
it was probably there before and
not noticed.

up Boytano [Boitano] Lake.
July 28, 1955
The blackbirds seem to have gone
from the marsh. They probably
left about a week ago.
