- Peromyscus. Rose Harbour. Aug. [August] 18/46 [1946]. Peromyscus have been most difficult to catch here. 725 trap nights took but 5 animals + these were all but one of one family group taken in a moss hung bank above a creek canyon in climax forest. Those taken consisted of 2 sub adults, one very small + one small juvenile + one adult [female symbol]. The latter contained 7 early bastocysts [blastocysts], that showed merely as small transverse red bars on the uterus. Sandspit. Aug. [August] 28/46 [1946]. Took 3 Perys [Peromyscus] in traps set in a marsh 3 1/2 miles S [south] of here. Tracks in the mud led me to hope for a microtine but on closer study there proves to be no microtine sign in the area. None of the farmers here have ever seen a short-tailed mouse.
