- Journal.
Banff. July 12/46 [1946]
Rose at 6 + drove west to mile
17 trying to get some coyote bait -
no luck. In A.M. [morning] bound coyote
traps + fixed up other items
at the office. In P.M. [afternoon] drove down
the river road from mile 4-5
east of town. Saw an ad [adult] coyote
+ 2 pups, which we caught. Returning
saw 2 ad [adult] coyotes. Made some
coyote sets on a ground point
using the two pups as bait.
Wolverine Pass - July 16/46 [1946].
Yesterday drove to Marble Canyon
+ then rode the 10 miles to here
Bert [Pfeiffer], George Nesatyk? + a Shuswap
Indian named Joe. Thunder storms
+ snow made travelling most unpleasant.
Today however has been good, high
driven cumulus clouds + generally
sunshiny. Hiked over to head of
Helmet Creek also to head of
Dainard Creek + Bert [Pfeiffer] crossed
to head of Numa Creek this
afternoon.
Lots of Larix Lyalli here - in
fact it is dominant at
timberline. Alplands here do not
feature the great willow beds of
those on the east slope + are
still heavily snowcovered. Life is
