- Journal. Jasper. May 25, 1946. Spent the day on Talbot Lake checking on the goose nesting - population. Found the following 12 nests, 11 hatched, 1 rubbed. 4 broods seen. Jasper May 26, 1946. Cut wood this morning + in afternoon went up to the beaver meadow to do some birding. Apparent local nesting birds on this small area 1 pr [pair] red breasted nuthatch 1 " black capped chickadee 1 " bluebirds 1 " hairy woodpeckers 1 " flickers 1 " Hammonds Flycatcher 1 " Traill Flycatcher " [Jasper] May 27, 1946. Set out a line of 12 coyote traps 4 pole traps + 5 small traps on the Dorothy Lake trail. No fresh coyote or wolf sign. An ancient lake 1/2 mile short of Minago Creek has a population of 2 pr [pairs] of Solitary Sandpipers, a pr [pair] of killdeer + 1 Greater Yellowlegs.
