- Journal.
Along the far side of the lake, also
tracks of coyotes, wolves + grizzly
bear.
Located 3 goose nests with eggs and
saw 2 additional broods. No nesting
ducks seen but the mallards + goldeneyes
are certainly nesting. For other
ducks seen see daily record.

Today drove to Gekie [Geikie] + from there
hiked in to Dorothy + Beryl lakes.
On the trail saw a great deal of
sign of wolves, coyotes, bear +
marten. Elk work in this
area is spotty with some
groves heavily chawed + others
untouched.
The country around the lakes is
largely covered with Jack Pine
with some spruce here + there
in the more moist places.
Very rugged terrain with many
cliffs + rock bluffs. Excellent
lion country.
An injured herring gull collected
on Dorothy Lake.
