- Sept [September] 4 [1931] Hunted the main ridge along
the mountain while P. [Patrick McTaggart Cowan] hunted
the S.W. [southwest] corner. P. [Patrick McTaggart Cowan] reported
nothing stirring but fresh
tracks. I came up with
a single doe in fine condition
and a doe with one fawn
both gave me good
looks at them at 25 + 50
yards resp. [respectively] Note a buck
anywhere. In the afternoon
lolled around camp and shot
a couple of Blue grouse.
Whisky Jacks, + Stellars
jays abundant, also White
crowned - golden crowned,
Lincoln + Fox sparrows,
junco's, Pileolated [Pileated] woodpeckers,
Red breasted Sapsucker, Sparrowhawk
Sharpshinned hawks, Short eared
Owl, Pigmy owl, Robins, Dwarf?
Hermit Thrushes, Varied thrushes,
Townsend solitaires, Tree creepers
Red breasted nuthatch, Clarkes
crows, Band tail Pigeon
