While on way to Victoria in 1859 from Frisco [San Francisco], struck on Blunts Reef near Cape Mendicino and went to pieces. Many lives lost. Vessel & [and] cargo a total loss --- Steamer Brother Johnathon Wood. Side Wheel. Capt [captain] De Woolf Sunk off Crescent City in July 1865. 300 lives lost. Formerly called the Commodore. Almost 1 million in treasure on board. --- Steamer Prince Alfred Iron propeller. Capt [captain] Scholl. Was wrecked of Point Reyes in a fog. Total loss. All hands saved --- Stmr [Steamer] George S. Wright Wooden propellor. Built on the Sound. Was lost at sea on a voyage from Sitka with all hands in 1873 Wreck never found. Supposed to have been lost in Queen Charlotte Sound. --- RIGHT PAGE 163 Stmr [Steamer] Labouchere Wooden Side Wheel. Capt [captain] Mouett --- Bark Maria J. Smith Wooden Bark. Capt [captain] Smith. Lumber Loaded. Met several mishaps and finally was abandoned and drifted about 500 miles up to Bella Bella and became a total wreck. All Saved --- Bark Glympse --- Schooner Thomas Woodward Nice Wooden Schooner. Came up here to go to Sitka trading. Ran ashore and became a total wreck at Shelter Cove up north. All hands Saved. Capt [captain] Arthur in command. ---
