No Whales. Anchored at

S.E. gale. Stood out and
at night anchored at Point

At 3 A.M. got under weigh
having drifted out a good
distance. Heavy blow and
great swell. Rain storm
Ran under Jib into Cluie [Clew] Inlet

Calm. At 7 got out and a light
S.E. breeze. Worked out. At 10
it came on to blow and ran
up to where we sunk the Whale

in Q.C. [Queen Charlotte] Sound. No Whales. At
night anchored at place where
we anchored first on arrival
intending to tan & [and] Pitch Schooner.

At 2 A.M. got schooner on beach
cleaned and repaired her. Warm
and Mosquito Bad

Finished cleaning schooner.
Caught Red Fish & [and] Bought a part
of a porpoise

Came in fine. Started down the
Inlet. At 12 Saw one Whale
& [and] chased him. Could not get
a shot. Saw more and
lowered 3 Times. No Luck
Came to anchor at dark
under Bluff in shoal Water

Saturday May 31
Came in with strong S.E. Breeze
& [and] swell. Got under weigh at
7 and chased a Whale
till 9. Came on Rain & [and]
fog. got no chance.
