The Lobelia rosettes hold small pools of water in which
a species of chironomid lives. This is an important food of the
scarlet tufted malachite sunbird.
Arabis alpina [underlined] on eroded ridge tops along with some
short relatively conventional Senecios [underlined].
Where there are Procavia [underlined] colonies lush stands of
Heracleum elgonense [underlined] up to 3' [feet]; + the thistle Carduus keniensis [underlined]
+ Arabis alpina [underlined]. Around the dung piles Sedum ruwenzoriense [underlined]
is rank + was flowering. A rather insignificant yellow flower
