- Westwick Lake Friday, July 22/55 [1955] Weather: fine I went to town. Nancy [Mahoney] watched grebes, and collected two young ones to raise. The one that had never seen its parents is easier to feed Westwick Lake Saturday, July 23, 1955 Weather: fine I watched grebes for half an hour in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. Most of the eggs have hatched. We started for the Fraser, and will get there to-morrow In the morning Nancy [Mahoney] and I rode to Frost Creek with Ronnie. The wooded areas seem almost lifeless The young grebes died. Peavine Sunday, July 24, 1955 Weather: fine A.M. [morning] thunder storm in the evening. Teddy, Nancy [Mahoney], Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] and I spent the day at a ranch on the Fraser. Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] saw a bear. He also took pictures of some Indian caves. We heard a hermit thrush and a rail on the trail down to the river.
