Monday June 2d
Got under weigh Early and
sw one whale. Calm
Lowered and after a good
of trouble, got a shot. 20
Fathms. Fastened and
Killed Whale, at 1:30. Was
fast 5 1/2 hours. Fired 8 Bombs
& [and] 1 spike. At 3 oclock Whale
Sprouted thick Blood, and so
for 2 hours, when he improved
and had to shoot more Bombs
into him. Got toward large
Island near Hot Springs, and
cut in. Very large Whale. 50 feet
but poor.

Tuesday June 3
Got into Bay opposite Hot Springs
and at 6:30 started try Works
and Cutting Whale in pieces.

Wednesday June 4
Kept trying out all day. Whale
very poor, and Milky. Very
slow and little oil

Thursday June 5
Kept trying out. Got aboard
wood & [and] Water. At 7:30
finished trying out. Was at
work 61 hours and only got
12 Barrels oil.

Friday June 6
Finished cleaning up Schooner
at 9 A.M. and at 11 worked
out with a light Breeze. Saw
one Whale but got no chances

Saw several whales and
chased them, but could not
get near. Whales very wild
and going very fast.

Got 2 shots. Missed Both.
Shots too far off.

Monday June 9
Dead Calm. All day drifted
about Bay. Saw one Whale
Kept after him all afternoon
but could not get near enough.

Tuesday June 10
Dead Calm. Still

Wednesday June 11
Calm. Rain. S.E. air

Thursday June 12
S.E. Ran out into Sound.
Heavy sea. Saw a good
many whales. Lowered and
Kept after for 3 hours, but
could not get a chance. Anchored
at 7:30 off Breaker Point

Friday June 13
S.E. Stiff Blow. At 7 got
under weigh, and ran out
into the strait. Saw some
whales and lowered. No chance.

Saturday June 14
S.E. Heavy gale. Lay at
anchor all day under point
near Siwash Ranch.

Sunday June 15
S.E. gale at anchor all day.
