Today (September 7) Josh
tells me that the Doctor
or Agent (I don't know
which) said that I was
too nervous to take a
risk above $2000 on
my life. That is all
for effect. In the
first place, when I
was examined on the
4th September, on a
Saturday, I was not Shaved
and was even very dirty
dressed. That and
the hurry I was in made
my pulse, a little higher
than usual. That was
all the test Doc. Clarke
had, as to my being nervous
or not. I guess he got
his ideas from Mr.
Snyder, because I heard
him and Mr. Snyder have
a little quick conference
in the office, when I was
being examined. No doubt
Snyder told him that he
had found out that I
drank and smoked

This Evening Mrs. Meletier refused
me credit for 25 cents Bread.
I offered her back the Bread I
allready had in my basket but she
said "Oh never mind." I owed
her 6 Bits before and that made
$1.00. Her dear husband was
present. Tom Guzen was also
present taking his supper.

We met Theodore Dane at
Wrigglesworths Store at 8 oclock
on Tuesday November 23 1886
Present - Sears, Wrigglesworth, and
myself. Also Charly Gowen who came
in later. Also Fred Miller and
afterword Harry Richardson. Dane
proposed to bring in a private
Bill before Assembly to ratify what
we had done, Also to reduce
the 5 year limit to 2,3,4, & [and] 5
years. We agreed to all.
Gowen & [and] Wrigglesworth to see Mr.
Beaver & [and] Grant
