  • Alces americana [underlined] In the district about Ootsa Lake, BC. [British Columbia] moose are abundant frequenting particularly the swampy willow-covered inner deltas. About the mouth of the Tahtsa River we on July 17, 1936 saw 7 moose including a cow with twin calves, two yearling bulls travelling together and two larger bulls. Trappers report that during the winter they find large numbers of moose pulled down by wolves. In deep snow it is reported the calves frequently starve. Aug [August] 2-13, 1936. Indianpoint Lake. Moose extremely abundant feeding extensively on water vegetation, also on a submarine plant possibly a Potomageton + another that has the appearance of young lettuce. July 12, 1937. Revelstoke. There are no moose in the vicinity of Revelstoke but eastward toward Glacier they are quite abundant.
