- Alces americana [underlined]
In the district about Ootsa
Lake, BC. [British Columbia] moose are abundant
frequenting particularly the swampy
willow-covered inner deltas.
About the mouth of the Tahtsa
River we on July 17, 1936 saw
7 moose including a cow with
twin calves, two yearling
bulls travelling together and
two larger bulls.
Trappers report that during
the winter they find large
numbers of moose pulled
down by wolves.
In deep snow it is reported
the calves frequently starve.
Aug [August] 2-13, 1936. Indianpoint Lake.
Moose extremely abundant
feeding extensively on water
vegetation, also on a submarine
plant possibly a Potomageton
+ another that has the appearance
of young lettuce.
July 12, 1937. Revelstoke.
There are no moose in the
vicinity of Revelstoke but eastward
toward Glacier they are quite
abundant.
