Likely a third eagle's nest 1/2 way along N [north] side. June 16. [1961] Clear, strong N.W. [northwest] wind continues. Nine more mice in same traps including 2 immature: 1 very small. After more invert. [invertebrate] collecting launched boat thru [through] kelp + hustled around the lee [south] side. Here could see the odd puffin flying into the formidable cliffs. Also Brandt's cormorants apparently nesting. W. [Western] Flycatcher nest, 7 eggs 1' up in stump Rode the heavy seas home, having a good tail wind most the way. Nothing in marten traps. Good dry out, clean up + mug up in Ranger Station. June 17. Still clear but wasted morning doing small necessary jobs. Mountains on Louise I. [Island] clear. Began collecting alpine plants as climed [climbed] thru [through] sparkling air. After 2 false starts found a route to the top of the mountain. Peak about 3400', few others around us higher. Few alpine pipits twitter- ing over the void. Little bear sign but deer seen bounding over the snow. The Pacific cover- ed in clouds which began creeping in over the mountains like a fuzzy blanket. At 6 pm, after a snack of crackers + cheese on the peak, began glissading down. Took a shorter, steeper route, reaching foot at nine pm. Set off home. Tried passing thru [through] narrows near Q.C.C. [Queen Charlotte City] but
