"methylated spirits". I

when It boiled and let the

You must Keep the atmosphere
of the room, saturated with
the fumes of the oil, night
and day, and never let it
go out. Keep the Temperature
at 70 [degrees] "Fahrenheit". Give
them Beef Tea to drink
also Milk, and Every 2 hours
a table spoonfull of Extra
3 star Brandy, in one Table
Diptheria spoon full of Water. By all
means, "Do Not Inhale
their Breath" and be
carefull not to Kiss them
on the mouth. The decase [disease]
is contagious. They were
sick about 2 weeks.
Examine the Throat often
and see if the mucus is at
all getting less. You can
Easily tell, as it looks like
light colored leather.
No matter how much they
Kick or Cry, or resist you
do not fail to use the
spray at least every 2 hours.
If necessary, tie them
hand and foot, and even
put a hollow gag in their
mouth, if they will not
open it willingly.

of course always trust to the
advice of your doctor, that is

had faith in my doctor, as
he done well from the start.
Bury all excrements and
discharges from the Throat.
Dig a deep hole, throw it
in and put lime and dirt
over it. Be sure and Keep
Everything very clean, and
always wash your hands after
handling the tools or patient
Keep strict quarentine and
allow no one in from outside.

away, as soon as you Known
Diptheria what it is. When they have
recovered, fumigate your
house all over with "Chloride
of Lime" and "Sulphuric Acid"
and then Ventilate it well.
Also burn "Stockholm Jar"
on hot Coals in the rooms.
For yourself, take a little
Good Brandy, smoke your
pipe when you go in the Room,
and take Equal parts of
Sulphur and Burnt Alum
in your Throat.
