At anchor. Wind & [and] Rain
and 40 days out no Whales
Monday April 14
Came in wet & [and] calm. At
noon cleared up. Went in
a canoe & [and] saw 2 Whales.
Came aboard & [and] fitted out
boat.

Tuesday April 15
N.E. gale. Very severe
weather. At anchor.

Wednesday April 16
Came in fine & [and] calm. At 6:30
started in Whale Boat and
went Northward a short
distance. A breese coming
up S.E. and Indians pointed
out a seemingly rich copper
Vien. Afterwards visited the
Hot Springs. Water nearly
boiling hot. On Way back
saw 2 Whales, chased one
but got no chance.

Wednesay [Thursday] April 17
Dragged Came with a light N.E. Breeze
on at 5:50 weighed and came
the into strait. At 7 fell Calm.
Beach At 10 came up a S.E. Breeze
at Ran for Middle Harbor & [and]
Middle Anchored at 12. Breese harder
Harbor At 4 dripped heavy Anchor at 5
No P.M. it was blowing a terrific
damage gale. Both anchors dragged
done and put schooner on the beach,
at 7 P.M. At about 12:30
she floated, put cables
& [and] liner ashore and hauled
off.

At S.E. Breeze. Heavy Rain and
Anchor very heavy swell. Remained
in at anchor. 53 days out and
Middle since we left have not had
Harbor 2 consecutive fine days. Both
Anchors down and 3 cables ashore.

At Heavy Rain. S.E. Blow
Anchor Remained at anchor all day.
Middle till 6 when towed schooner
harbor up harbor, and put her on
the beach to scrape bottom.

Still E.E. Wind and Rain till noon
at anchor 55 days out.

Monday April 21
Still Rain. S.E. Blow. Finished
in harbor cleaning schooner. Got Wood
& [and] Water aboard.

Tuesday April 22
From Came in fine. At 7:30 got all
Middle aboard and towed out. Wind
Harbor Westerly. Beat about the large
to Siwash passage near Indian Ranch
Ranch all day without seeing Whales
Anchored near Ranch

Wednesday April 23
At This morning at 5 took Boats
Anchor and Indian Guide and pulled
at up Whale Passage to and
Indian through Whale Harbor. Pulled
Ranch all day and got to schooner
No at 8 P.M. About 50 miles
Whales in all. Saw no whales but
so far from schooner 2 were seen
during the day.
