Came round through the Straits of Magellan to Victoria in tow of the "Termegent" Condemmed at Esquimalt Naval Yard and sold to Charles Millard for a Mexican Firm for $7000. Went down to Mexico. Became a Rebel vessel and was burnt and sunk during an Engagement with the U.S. Steamer "Mohican" --- RIGHT PAGE 153 Gunboat "Grappler" Built at same time as the "Forward" and arrived here at the same time. Wooden. A Sister ship Condemmed and sold at Naval Yard to James Train for $2400 Passed into various hands and was burnt and sunk close to the "Seymour Narrows" with a loss of 72 lives, Chinese and Whites. --- Steamer "Emily Harris" Built of Wood in Victoria in 1862 Propeller. Was a failure from her lauch [launch]. Passed into the hands of Captain Train. Blew up off "Salt Spring Island" and became a total wreck with all hands also Captain --- Ship "Panther" While coming from Nanaimo with coal in tow of the Tug "Goliah" parted her Hauser in snow storm off Narrow Island in the Gulf of Georgia and went ashore. Became a total wreck. All hands saved. Wreck sold to Mr. Chilson, who tried to wreck her, but failed. --- Ship "Cowper" While coming down from Nanaimo with coal struck on "Tumbo Island" near "Plumper Pass" Became a total wreck. Vessel sold at auction to Captain Thain and others. They got some little coal out of her, but she suddenly broke in half and went down in deep Water. All Rigging saved and also sold at auction.
