Brandy, and pour it thinly
over the medal or coin, so
as to cover the whole surface;
let it remain on for a day or
2, till it is thoroughly dried
and hardened, and then take
it off carefully.
A Good Strong White Wash
5 #b [pounds] Paris White - 25 cents
4 #b [pounds] French Zinc - 60 cents
1/2 #b [pound] White Glue - 10 cents
Boil the glue first. Then add
more Water and boil with Paris
White and last [struckthrough], add the Zinc
and last add glue. Make thick
or thin as required.
Aluminum How to Solder
Tinsmith Solder will not solder
aluminum. You must use a
solder made as follows
1 part aluminum
Scientific 1 part 10 per cent phosphor Tin
[American] 8 parts Zinc
Nov 22 32 parts Tin (by weight)
