PublicPhotograph is part of the Archie Wills' Autobiography, " All in a Lifetime". Archie Wills writes in the photo's caption, "Corporal Archie Wills, mounted on his faithful horse, "Happy," in full marching order. His "British Warm" (overcoat) is rolled on front of saddle. His two sleeping blankets are folded on Happy's back, under saddle. Bandolier, with 50 rounds, over left shoulder, gasmask over right shoulder, "tin-lid" in rear, Hay net for Happy and mess tin on rear of saddle. Breast-collar on Happy for immediate use if any horse of gun team injured, Happy taking its place. Head chain for tethering horse. Picture taken just as we left England for France."
