Started in 1983, the Open Door was a rural lesbian newsletter based in Burns Lake and Terrace, Northern British Columbia. This unique community was composed of both rural lesbian and wiccan identities and was based on the Radical-Feminist separatists movement that began in the 1970’s. Angry women who were being harassed for their identity moved out of the suburbs in the Lower Mainland and bought land in Northern British Columbia to farm.
