Letter from Alfred Chantrey Corbould to Mr. Burnand

An Autographed Letter Signed (ALS) by “A.C. Courbould”, to Mr. Burnand, incorporating an original signed cartoon of Receiving Day at the Royal Academy in 1894, called “A Fact”. The cartoon shows a porter receiving a canvas from an artist. “R.A. Porter to Stodge, delivering his picture: ‘stonishing lot o Rubbish sent in this year Sir. Moo’ damaging to th’ [h]eys Sir.’” Alfred Chantrey Corbould (1852-1920) was an artist and illustrator. He studied with his uncle Charles Keene, who introduced him to Punch, where much of his work was published. His correspondent is Sir Francis C. Burnand (1836-1917), author and editor of Punch. Part of a collection of letters written by illustrators of Charles Dickens' works.
