Some members of his family, such as Masaji Yoshida (1917-71) [91] and Hodaka Yoshida (b. 1926) [90], went on to be great artists in the sosaku hanga movement, but one son, Toshi Yoshida (b. 1911) [60], con�tinued to make ukiyo-e-like prints in the traditional style of his father.
The ukiyo-e artist most admired for his actor portraits was Sharaku (active 1794-95). Three shin hanga artists tried to recapture the spirit of Sharaku�s magnificent Kabuki prints. Natori Shunsen (1886-1960) [65], Yamamura Koka (1885-1942) [66] and Yoshikawa Kampo (b. 1894) [67] made stylized and richly textured prints which, to a large extent, succeeded in reviving the picturesque theatrical tradition of ukiyo-e. In the early twentieth century, an artist named Kogyo (1869-1927) [68] made some interesting print studies of the aristocratic Noh theatre.
