A Strong Limament
Alcohol 1 quart. Oil of Origanum
2 oz, oil of wormwood 1 oz, gum
camphor 2 oz, Spirits turpentine 2 oz
Tincture of Cantharides 1 oz. Mix all.

Liquid glue
Fill a glass jar with broken glue of gum
quality. Then fill it up with Acetic Acid
Keep it in hot water for a few hours until

To remove paint & [and] grease
Aqua Ammonia 2 oz. Soft water
1 quart. Saltpeter 1 Teaspoonfull,
Shaving soap in shavings 1 oz.
Dissolve the soap well & [and] mix together.

To Cure Billeousness
Take a glass of hot water with the
juice of a lemon squeezed in it every
morning and every night. It is also

"Diptheria" [Diphtheria] 85
My 2 children Willy and
Rachel had an attack of
Diptheria on June 1 1888
The decease [disease] is Known by a
yellow mucus being seen on
each Tonsil in the throat
Open the mouth and hold
the Tongue down with a spoon
handle, and you can see
them plainly. I called in
Doctor Matthews and the
following was the remidy;
Diptheria
I put the children in Bed
and Kept all draught away.
Nailed a block behind the
door (on the floor) to keep it
from opening too far. Then
purchased at Morrison's Drug
store a machine marked as below
The Magic Atomiser No. 5

This is a machine looking like
a patent Injection, but when
squeezed it ejects a fine "spray"
from a small nickel Tube.
I sprayed the throat on each
side, at first every hour, then
every 2 hours, night and day.
If asleep then wake them up when
the 2 hours are up. The wash
I used was largely made
from Carbolic Acid and also
came from Morrisons Drug Store
Prescription No. 44452. I also
bought a bottle of what is called
"Eucaliptals O.2"
